Lower carb and Gluten Free (GF) options now here for all of our menus!
You asked, we listened! If you already are a member of The Dinner Daily, you might have already noticed that many of the recipes on your menu (and in the swap options through Switch It!) now have one or more of these symbols: ◊ or ∆ You’ll see them immediately following the recipe name. This diamond symbol (◊) is our notation of a lower carb meal and the triangle (∆) is Gluten Free.
So if you are looking to reduce the carbs or eliminate gluten in your diet each week, we make it easy! Just follow the symbols to guide your choices. You will see that some of your meals on your weekly menu are lower carb or gf, and you can always change any meals that aren’t lower carb or gf to ones that are using “Switch It!” (just look for the pencil icon next to each recipe name – see a short Switch It! demo here). Please note that while most Switch It alternative selections will contain a lower carb or GF option, we can’t guarantee that all alternative selection lists will contain both options.
How do we define Lower Carb? (◊)
Although there are many variations of what constitutes a lower carb diet, our definition of lower carb is a recipe that is free of pasta, couscous, white rice, breads, breading, tortillas, and potatoes. We use minimal amounts of flour (as thickeners) and natural sweeteners. We do include nutrient rich carbs such as sweet potatoes, beans, and legumes.
Although the process of specifically identifying lower carb recipes is new, many of our recipes have been lower carb all along. We are also adding more lower carb recipes every month and all of these recipes follow our guidelines of healthy recipes for easy weeknight meals!
How to we define Gluten Free? (∆)
We have used a strict GF rule for this round of GF recipes, meaning they do not contain ingredients that even might contain gluten, such as soy sauce or chicken broth. We have many other recipes that could easily be made GF by ensuring the ingredient does not contain gluten, we have not included those at this time.
As with Lower Carb, we are adding new recipes every month and will be continuing to enhance our GF options.
